Greetings, Academy of Health Science Juniors! FACES of the Future, the PACE Team, and your Health Science teachers have worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate this Month Without Walls experience for each and every one of you. Throughout the week of March 1st - 5th, you’ll be embarking on a week of work-based learning, network building, and career-readiness experiences. We’re so excited for you all to experience this unique-to-Burton opportunity.

To prepare you for this week, please take a moment to thoroughly read through student expectations and get familiar with your schedule for the week. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your Health Science teacher or Sarah, the Pathways and Partnerships Coordinator at skong@ymcasf.net.

Month Without Walls Participants will…

1. Attend all assigned sessions. Attendance is MANDATORY, and will be taken during the beginning and end of every workshop and work-based learning experience.
2. Complete all assigned surveys and daily reflections.
3. Arrive on-time and ready to learn!
4. Have fun!
5. Be an active participant during all workshops and work-based learning experiences by being an active listener, engaging in discussions, and contributing to projects.

During this activity, AoHS students will continue building their investigative skills by using the background knowledge from Medical Ethics and PBL to figure out who the appropriate organ recipients should be. 7th period (Miller) Zoom Link

During your AoHS class, FACES will be facilitating a workshop around Health Professionalism. During this workshop, AoHS students will learn different tips and tools for communicating professionally within a healthcare setting. Students will also learn how to properly format an email and reach out to a Healthcare professional who they hope to learn more about their professions. Please complete:

During Advisory, Medical Residents from (UCSF) University of California San Francisco will be presenting examples of different Case Scenarios in hospital settings. In small groups, students will have the opportunity take a deeper dive into how doctors respond to situations during medical emergencies. Please complete:
