Burton’s Pathways & Partnerships Team is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and creative Student Media Intern for Week Without Walls 2023! The Student Media Intern will play a large role in creating youth-facing marketing materials for social media and web. Additionally, the Student Media Intern will also interview students, staff, and industry professionals throughout the event, documenting their perspectives and amplifying their voices for a more complete reflection of the experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of Burton’s Pathways and Partnerships Team, the Week Without Walls Student Media Interns will:
Support in the public relations, marketing, and content creation of Week Without Walls
Assist with the design and execution of social media and web campaigns
Provide a youth and student-facing lens in marketing materials
Create and distribute content such as photos and videos that capture the student Week Without Walls experience
Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
Be positive representatives of Burton High School and Week Without Walls
Qualifications:
Week Without Walls Student Media Interns are encouraged, but not required, to have the following skills and competencies:
Current Burton 11th grader participating in the Academy of Health Science, Academy of Engineering, Academy of Performing Arts, or Academy of Arts, Media, and Entertainment
Creative, collaborative, and eager to learn
Comfortable with taking photos and videos on an iPhone and/or digital camera
Comfortable with creating original content on social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, and Youtube
Comfortable with using/learning content editing software such as Adobe, Canva, etc.
Comfortable with interviewing students, teachers/staff, and industry professionals about their Week Without Walls experiences
Ability to meet deadlines and follow instructions
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively
Academics/GPA are not a deciding factor for this role. This is an equal opportunity for all Burton 11th grade students regardless of academic standing and experience in graphic design/social media.

Length of Internship:
The Student Media Intern is a brief internship designed intentionally to amplify student voice and highlight the Week Without Walls experience. Student Media Interns are required to attend ONE mandatory orientation session prior to Week Without Walls, and will work during the event, which will take place on Monday, March 20th to Friday, March 24th. In addition to documenting their experience during the event, Interns will spend 1-2 hours after school creating original content for web and social media.

Compensation:
Upon completion of the internship, all Student Media Interns will receive a $200 stipend.
